Datacentrex invests $30m in space-fuel supplier Eagle LNG
(SpaceEnergy) Datacentrex has invested $30 million in Eagle LNG Partners' holding company, taking a 10.5% stake in a supplier of aerospace-specification liquid methane for US launch vehicles.
Datacentrex said it acquired $30 million of Class A common units in ELNG Equity, the equity holding company of Eagle LNG Partners. The transaction was made alongside a $10 million commitment from an affiliate of The Energy & Minerals Group, Eagle LNG's controlling sponsor.
Florida-based Eagle LNG is a vertically integrated liquefied natural gas producer and qualified supplier of high-methane, aerospace-specification LNG used as liquid methane propellant by next-generation US reusable launch vehicles.
Datacentrex said Eagle LNG has produced and delivered LNG since 2017 and has contracted customers across space propulsion, marine bunkering, island utility and industrial markets. Its contracts have a weighted average tenor of about 15 years.
The company said Eagle LNG is already under contract with a leading space propulsion customer, which it did not identify.
The investment gives Datacentrex direct exposure to the upstream methane-propellant supply chain as US launch cadence and demand for liquid methane increase.
