Impulse Space adds $308 million to Series D
(SpaceEnergy) Impulse Space has raised a further $308 million for its Series D financing, taking the round to $808 million as it expands its in-space propulsion and mobility business.
The extension follows the $500 million Series D announced in June. Existing investors participating included 137 Ventures, BANNER VC, DFJ Growth, Linse Capital, Lux Capital and Valor Equity Partners, among others.
Impulse said the additional capital will support product development and team growth. Its current propulsion-related portfolio includes the Mira spacecraft, Helios high-energy kick stage and recently unveiled Electra electric-propulsion system, which complements its chemical propulsion engines.
The company said its headcount has more than doubled during the past year and it has expanded its US footprint.
“This funding supports our ongoing growth across people, products, and facilities,” founder and chief executive Tom Mueller said.
Impulse also appointed Adam Townsend as its first chief financial officer to manage its growing capital base and expanding business.
