Korean space solar-cell developer Flexell establishes French subsidiary
(SpaceEnergy) South Korean space solar-cell developer Flexell Space has established a subsidiary in Paris to support European satellite manufacturers and advance negotiations over the supply and volume production of spacecraft power systems.
The company announced on 26 October that Flexell Space France SAS would serve as its European business hub, connecting customers with its research, development and manufacturing operations in South Korea.
Flexell said it was discussing collaboration agreements and volume supply arrangements with several European customers, although it did not identify them or disclose potential contract values.
The subsidiary will coordinate technical reviews, sample evaluations, environmental testing requirements and discussions covering production schedules, quality management and delivery arrangements.
Flexell develops tandem solar cells and associated spacecraft power systems, combining different photovoltaic materials to improve electrical performance while reducing weight and manufacturing costs.
The company is expanding its product development beyond individual solar cells towards modules and arrays tailored to satellite platforms and mission requirements.
Its European expansion will initially target customers and partners in France, Germany, Italy and Lithuania.
Chief financial officer Keosan Lee said establishing a local presence would help convert ongoing technical and commercial discussions into supply agreements.
