LH3M seeks funding for lunar fusion fuel development

(SpaceEnergy) Lunar Helium-3 Mining (LH3M) is preparing a new capital raise to advance technologies aimed at extracting helium-3 from the Moon, with the company positioning the isotope as a potential future fuel for fusion energy and other high-energy applications.

According to information published on its investor relations page, LH3M plans to begin a significant funding round during 2026 to support the next phase of technology

development and maturation. The company said the financing will build on an initial funding round that it states was completed on schedule and within budget.

The company is developing technologies for detecting, extracting and processing helium-3 from lunar regolith. Although commercial fusion power using helium-3 remains unproven, the isotope has attracted long-term interest because it is considered a potential fuel for advanced fusion reactors that could produce energy with fewer radioactive by-products than conventional deuterium-tritium fusion systems.

LH3M said it has expanded its intellectual property portfolio through issued and pending patents while continuing to build relationships with space industry partners. The company is also promoting its technical work through a series of public discussions on the commercial prospects for lunar helium-3 extraction.

The investor update does not disclose the size of the planned fundraising or identify potential investors. However, a separate announcement indicates the company is seeking up to US$20 million in Series A financing to support infrastructure and technology development for future lunar resource extraction activities.
