Sypris wins satellite power-processing contract

(SpaceEnergy) Sypris Electronics has won a contract to manufacture power-processing units for a next-generation satellite constellation, with protoflight and pilot production scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026.

The Tampa, Florida-based electronics manufacturer said the unnamed customer is a leading space-technology company. The award covers non-recurring engineering, materials procurement and high-volume manufacture of spacecraft power-processing units.

Sypris said it will establish and qualify production capacity for electronic power assemblies spanning engineering, verification and flight hardware. Work will include production infrastructure, procurement of specialised space materials, assembly, integration and testing.

The company said the electronics are intended to provide precise power regulation and control for critical spacecraft functions in long-duration orbital environments.

Protoflight and pilot builds are due to start in the third quarter, followed by phased deliveries of flight units through mid-2028. Financial terms and the identity of the constellation customer were not disclosed.
